"K and O"

Illustrations for Kenzo's photos by Jacky Suharto, styled by Margaretha Novianty, for Plaza Indonesia's exhibition with L'Officiel Indonesia.

The first two are actually the earlier versions that were rejected by the running parties. They are the ones published here because I selfishly still prefer them instead of the final edit results. Despite of the oh so heart-thumping troubles they might  had caused to the running parties, it was an exciting project for me to work on, with many thanks to the very kind stylist and photographer who had invited me to participate :)

Requiescat In Pace

In the face of mortality, the only certainty you have is its inevitable coming to all living things. An unwanted happening for most, awaited for some. It's absoluteness is a humbling reflection, a reminder of our authentic human self, of our limited time, whether or not we choose to make peace with it.

Requiescat In Pace, exhibited at Suddenly's The Black Ceremony, and is now up for sale as a 9-frame installation, eight frames of 18 x 22 cm paper, and one single frame with a mirror. Contact Suddenly at ghostgirl.grim@gmail.com for further details.

*thank you Miss Ong for the photo!

{ because } is now ticking around!

Based on the song "Because" by The Beatles. One's own delirious perception of time and music.

After a heart-thumping process, "Because" participated in Art Medium Store's Back to Basic (2) group exhibition at Tryst Living, Kemang, and is now up for sale. Contact Art Medium Store at artmedium.conceptstore@gmail.com for further details.

put your feet where your mouth is

For Republik Insula & Art Medium Store's Suara Indonesia Kini Art Exhibition, discussing the idea of victory and pride as Indonesians.

Opening tomorrow, August 23, 2013, 3 PM, at Alun Alun Grand Indonesia, exhibiting until September 9, 2013.

Put Your Feet Where Your Mouth Is

Of being proud to be Indonesian, maybe I should first truly understand what it means to be Indonesian. Is it to wear batik head to toe twenty-four seven. Is it to condemn any "western influence" when I'm sitting my ass in my blue jeans at McDonalds.

Of being proud to be Indonesian, maybe I should first truly understand what it means to be Bhinneka Tunggal Ika. Is it to offer tolerance as long as it's convenient for me. Is it to preach noble causes in public for the sake of some hot shot award shit.

Of being proud to be Indonesian, clearly I should first remember to look in the mirror, and put said feet into my own mouth, before shovelling it down to anyone's throat.

decaf deliria

For Kopi Keliling Volume 05, a hyperbolical depiction of my sans-coffee state of delirium. Adapting Rorschach inkblot patterns to represent the randomness of psychological { and emotional } interpretation of that "state of delirium". The same randomness we meet in an art experience. So, the blank area on the right, is for you to imagine yourself { you don't have to if you don't give a shit }.

Thank you so much, Kopi Keliling!
PS: Thank you Difa for the inspiration! :">
