Based on the Greek mythology, Manea, the goddess of insanity, is a primeval being whose existence began long before there were men on earth. Manifesting madness in all sorts of nature, her divine power is capable of possessing the thoughts, emotions, words, and actions of a human being, and even a god.

Project from Suddenly, illustrating local ghost tales for Indonesia's independence anniversary. Made a hand-drawn version that did not turn out as wanted in portraying the story. Hope this one also works better for Suddenly's demon lovers. The pose is adapted from a painting of Mother Mary and baby Jesus. The series is published by Suddenly today. Anak Sima & Takau
Origin: South Kalimantan
Anak Sima ("Anak" means "Child") is actually a baby born out of wedlock, who is abandoned in the forest by its mother. The newborn baby keeps on crying in the middle of the forest until the cry is heard by a Takau (a ghost from South Kalimantan folklore). The hungry Takau approaches the baby for prey, but eventually falls charmed after seeing the baby smiles when she touches it. The baby is then taken as a child by Takau and named Anak Sima.

Since then, a cry of a child is often heard in the forest. Enchanted, you will go seek where it comes from, until later find a beautiful looking child. Being approached, the child will call out "Uma" ("Mother"), stealing your pity and compassion. The child will ask to be carried on the back to go home with you. But along the way, you will start to feel enormous pain on your back, despite the light weight of the child. When you look behind, then you will realize, the child is eating the flesh of your back until it holes through your chest. The child is Anak Sima, whose favorite meal is a human heart.

Suddenly, she comes with your fate, the burning fangs of the fire, consume you in desire.

Horay! They are finally launched! These are the latest commission work I did for my friend, Suddenly.

I got the privilege to draw six Suddenly characters according to my own interpretation. Fun aaand heart-thumping!

For the rest of the series, we'll have to wait a little longer to see where Suddenly commands them to go!

lilith tail, the ghost of the carousel mare

At the last day of the carnival, be sure to stay till dusk. The absence of the sun will offer you more than you wish for.

Forget not to come by the merry-go-round, the happiest ride for every boys and girls.

As the horses are running one by one, close your eyes, and whisper loudly in your heart, "Lilith Tail, Lilith Tail, Lilith Tail." The circle will stop, and there she will stand before you.

The raven-headed mare, dressed in the dragon armor. Lilith Tail, has arrived from your chants.

And as her head turns to your eyes, you will recognize, an irresistible offer for a once-in-a-lifetime ride.

Step up to her back, sit tight and pray might. She will fly you away, higher than any spirits can reach before heaven opens up its mouth.

She will sing you a song too beautiful to be true. But dare not to sing along, for its words are full of cursed calls:
"Here we go round at the merry-go-round. Where you leave the ground to the spirit's mound.
Here we go round at the merry-go-round. Where your soul is bound to never be found."

Ah, it is too too late. You've sang the song, and the words have been tied around your head. You have emerged into her spiritless rest.

But worry not, you will wake again tomorrow. You will wake again tomorrow, and find, how beautifully decorated you are, as one of her brand new mares in the circle of the carousel. A privilege to dance round in the merry-go-round, where you will forever never be found.
